Please be advised to eat lightly and allow at least 2 hours for digestion before practicing and to drink plenty of water after the workshop.
Each class will end with a pranayama (control of the breath) practice and a short meditation. Coming from the Ashtanga tradition I will offer many adjustments to those who wish to help deepen certain postures safely.
Our 3rd workshop will focus on Inversions, which are once again, postures that push us to face our fears. Being upside down isn’t natural to us, and yet these postures have numerous benefits on both mind and body. They stimulate the immune and endocrine systems, nourishing the brain and the organs and when practiced correctly, inversions help alleviate pain and tension in the neck and spine.
Sirsasana (headstand) and Sarvangasana (shoulderstand) are actually said to be the King and Queen of all asanas. While Sirsasana makes us more alert, Sarvangasana helps us remain calm and receptive.
We will explore a range of inversions, and depending on your level of practice I will either modify the postures to explain each step to you slowly and safely or encourage you to practice certain inversions with a few extra added challenges. Everyone will be encouraged to try for headstand, handstand and pinch mayurasana (with the option to use the wall as well as props if these postures are new to you).
As always we will begin by a thorough warm up and breath work, to get the body ready for the practice of inversions. We will focus on building strength in the spine, shoulders, core and arms as well as open up hips and stretch our hamstrings.
This class is OPEN TO ALL LEVELS and I will adapt each posture to your level of practice. As always, we will end the class with more restorative postures, breath work, relaxation and a short meditation.

People suffering from neck injuries, epilepsy, high blood pressure, heart conditions, and eye problems should avoid attending this class.
